Urma Menekshe

My name is Urma Menekshe and I am from Prizren. I completed my bachelor studies at the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” in the branch of education in Turkish language.
I speak Romani, Turkish and Albanian, and I have knowledge of Bosnian and English.
Since the age of 12 I have attended several trainings related to education as well as in various fields. From a young age I have been active in various non-governmental organizations which have defended the rights of minority communities (such as the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities) in the municipality of Prizren. Every experience I have gained has had a positive impact on my life.

I was also a moderator on the radio “Voice of the Roma” in Prizren.
For more than 10 years I was also an amateur actress in the Roma amateur theater “Nexhip Menekshe”.
During my experience as a volunteer in many countries, I have tried to face all the problems and challenges that communities in the municipality of Prizren face. The knowledge and skills I have gained during my journey have helped me choose the teaching profession, believing that I can change for the better the future of my nation.
I am now a Roma language teacher in four schools in the municipality of Prizren.
Throughout my work as a teacher I try to use interactive methods to make the lesson attractive so that children love the subject they are learning.

“The knowledge and skills I have gained during my journey have helped me choose the teaching profession, believing that I can change for the better the future of my nation.”
