Peace Corps, University, and Prizren Municipality Collaborate to Train English Language Professors
In collaboration with Prizren University “Ukshin Hoti” and Prizren Municipality, the United States Peace Corps organized a unique training session for English language teachers with the theme “Make Students’ Learning Real and Effective”. This training, held at Prizren University, gathered prominent figures, educators, and experts to empower English teachers with innovative approaches and strategies, encouraging more efficient education.
The event began with greetings from representatives of partner institutions. Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, the University Rector, emphasized that this training reflects the university’s commitment to improving the educational landscape in Prizren. He expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Peace Corps and the Prizren municipality. Dr. Carolyne Siganda, Director of Peace Corps in Kosovo, highlighted the organization’s role in promoting intercultural exchange and enhancing education in Kosovo. Mr. Shaqir Totaj, the Mayor of Prizren, expressed his appreciation for the initiative and pointed out the importance of English language learning for the city’s youth. Ms. Luljeta Veselaj-Gutaj, Director of the Education Directorate in Prizren, highly appreciated the organization of this training for English language teachers, considering it a significant step in their professional development.
This one-day training, titled “Make Students’ Learning Real and Effective”, will explore theories and teaching and learning practices centered on competencies. Its purpose is to support the implementation of the Kosovo curriculum.
The primary objective of this training is to assist English language teachers in Kosovo in enhancing their pedagogical expertise and empowering competency-based teaching in the classroom. The training focuses on explaining teaching theories and methodologies for learning English language. It also offers techniques and activities to enhance competency-based teaching, stimulate critical thinking, and encourage collaborative problem-solving.
