The book prepared in partnership between the Kosova Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims (KRCT) and forumZFD program in Kosovo documents sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, as well as the traumatic impact that these experiences have on family, community, and society.
The book presents the interviews of ten family members of survivors of wartime sexual violence and two men survivors of sexual violence from the recent war in Kosovo.
Compiled in the format of oral history narration, the book explores the implications of wartime sexual violence and social justice through stories of men and women, daughters and sisters who (co)exist and deal with the trauma, shame, and collective stigma. Documenting such accounts, additionally, contribute to the diversification of the narrative of the war in Kosovo.
In the promotion, a panel comprised of subject-in-matter experts, organizers and collaborators shall discuss how indirect exposure to the trauma of wartime sexual violence affects society, relatives, and family members. The discussion also shall explore the discourse on sexual violence, as part of a broader historic narrative and public policies, ethics, and the importance of documenting wartime experiences.
