University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” participant in the Conference on Economic Development in Western Kosovo
On June 12, 2025, in the city of Peja, the Conference on Economic Development of Western Kosovo was held, organized by the KFOR Regional Command West, under the leadership of Commander Colonel Francesco Erico, in cooperation with local and international institutions. This conference was part of the joint commitments for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for Western Kosovo, with the aim of strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation for sustainable development.
The University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” was represented by the Rector, Prof. Mentor Alishani, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Serdan Kervan and the Vice-Rector for Learning and Student Affairs Prof. Luan Vardari.

The Rectors of the Universities of Peja and Gjakova. The Mayors of the Municipalities of Western Kosovo. Representatives of local and international businesses as well as representatives of educational institutions and civil society.
During his speech, Rector Alishani emphasized:
The importance of structured cooperation between universities, local governments and the private sector, as a basis for sustainable development;
The need to adapt higher education to the labor market, strengthening the professional preparation of students;
The active role of universities in improving community life, through knowledge, innovation and inter-institutional projects.
The Commander of the Regional Command West, Colonel Francesco Erico, in his welcoming speech, emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation between local and international actors to help sustainable economic development in Western Kosovo. He thanked all participants for their commitment and willingness to cooperate.
The conference served as an important platform for promoting partnerships and joint projects between universities, municipalities and the business sector.
