

Graduation Ceremony at “Ukshin Hoti” University – Prizren Honoring the 82nd Birthday of Ukshin Hoti
On June 17, 2025, the University “Ukshin Hoti” – Prizren held a special graduation ceremony in honor of the 82nd anniversary of the birth of Ukshin Hoti, one of the most important figures of Albanian political thought and the namesake of this higher-education institution.
The ceremony opened with the performance of the National Anthem and the Anthem of the Republic of Kosovo, followed by a wreath-laying tribute at the statue of Ukshin Hoti on the university campus.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Taulant Kelmendi took part in the homage.
Also in attendance were: Andin and Brisilda Hoti (children of Ukshin Hoti); the Mayor of Rahovec, Smajl Latifi; the Consul of the Republic of Turkey, Celal Doğan; the Head of the Islamic Community in Prizren, Valon Ibrahimi; members of the Kosovo Assembly; representatives of KFOR and the Kosovo Police; and the Chair of the University Governing Council, Prof. Arif Murrja.
The formal speeches began with Rector Alishani, who emphasized the importance of the day for both the graduates and the institution.
Prime Minister Kurti, in his address, praised Ukshin Hoti as a symbol of free thought and intellectual resistance.
Then Andin Hoti, Ukshin Hoti’s son, thanked the university for preserving and promoting his father’s legacy.
Finally, Bleona Buduri, representing the Student Parliament, spoke on behalf of the graduating class.
The celebration continued with the symbolic presentation of diplomas for each faculty in the presence of deans and professors.
At the end, the graduates performed the traditional pen handover and the the festive tossing of caps into the air, officially marking the close of this important chapter of their academic journey.
