

Conference of Rectors Discusses Challenges and Priorities of Public Higher Education in Kosovo
Gjakova — The Conference of Rectors of Kosovo’s public universities held its regular meeting today at the premises of “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova.
The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mentor Alishani, Rector of “Ukshin Hoti” University in Prizren, who currently also serves as Chair of the Conference of Rectors.
During the meeting, strategic issues concerning the development and functioning of public higher education in the country were discussed. The focus of the discussions was on joint commitments to strengthen the scientific and research component in public universities, as well as the preparations and challenges related to institutional and program accreditation processes, in line with quality assurance standards.
The rectors emphasized the importance of coordination among public higher education institutions, the exchange of experiences and best practices, and the development of joint approaches aimed at advancing academic quality and continuously improving institutional performance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the role of the Conference of Rectors was reaffirmed as an important mechanism for harmonizing the positions of public universities, addressing common challenges, and strengthening the contribution of public higher education to Kosovo’s scientific, economic, and social development.
