

University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren Enriched with a Field Station in Partnership with the University of Konstanz
The University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren and the University of Konstanz (Germany) have signed a Cooperation Agreement for the management and operation of the University of Konstanz’s Field Station, which will operate on the premises of the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren.
The agreement defines the framework of institutional cooperation between the two universities for the deployment, management, operation, and preservation of the Field Station, which will serve as academic and research infrastructure, as well as an educational and exhibition space (Nature Museum). Activities will be carried out within an 18-month pilot phase, with the possibility of continuation following a final evaluation.
Under this agreement, the University of Konstanz will make available the assets of the Field Station, including research equipment, biological collections, exhibition materials, furniture, and teaching materials, while ownership of these assets remains with the University of Konstanz. The University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren will provide appropriate premises, physical protection, basic maintenance, and ensure the use of the assets in line with the objectives of the agreement.
The agreement provides for joint institutional management, the development of academic, research, and educational activities, and the integration of the Field Station into the university structures, enabling its use by students, academic staff, schools, and the wider community.
The University of Konstanz will offer technical and conceptual guidance, support in knowledge transfer, and the maintenance of scientific standards, while a trained coordinator will be engaged to provide professional, operational, and educational support. In addition, GIZ Kosovo has expressed its readiness to support the implementation of the activities foreseen in the agreement.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of senior representatives of both institutions. From the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren, the participants included: Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, Rector; Prof. Assist. Dr. Luan Vardari, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Student Affairs, and Scientific Research; Prof. Assist. Dr. Adelina Rakaj, Vice-Rector for Budget, Finance, and Infrastructure; MSc. Nexhmedin Krasniqi, Secretary General of the University; Prof. Assoc. Dr. Albana Plakiqi Milaimi, Dean of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences; and Prof. Assoc. Dr. Rifat Morina.
From the University of Konstanz, Dr. Gregor Schmitz, representative of the Botanical Garden (Botanischer Garten) of the University of Konstanz, was present, while Dr. Sc. Qenan Maxhuni attended in the capacity of Project Coordinator.
This agreement represents an important step in advancing international cooperation, strengthening research capacities, and developing the academic and educational infrastructure of the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren.
