Promotion of the Novel Brenga by Pashko R. Camaj at the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren
As part of the academic and cultural activities of the Faculty of Philology, the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren had the pleasure of hosting the writer Pashko R. Camaj, author of the novel Brenga, in cooperation with Onufri Publishing House.
The visit began with an official meeting at the Rector’s Office, where Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, Rector of the University, warmly welcomed the guests and expressed his appreciation for the literary work and for the role of literature in preserving historical and cultural memory. The meeting was attended by the author Pashko R. Camaj, Mr. Bujar Hudhri, representative of Onufri Publishing House, as well as collaborators of the author. From the University “Ukshin Hoti”, participants included Rector Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, University Secretary Mr. Nexhmedin Krasniqi, and Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Vjollca Dibra.
The event then continued at the Faculty of Philology, where the promotion of the novel Brenga was held, followed by an open and highly engaging discussion between the author and students. After a brief introductory address on the book by Prof. Ilire Zajmi, a warm and meaningful discussion took place with students from three departments: English Language and Literature, Albanian Language and Literature, German Language and Literature.
Through this dialogue, students—representing a younger generation that did not directly experience the dictatorship—were introduced, through literature, to the events, moral dilemmas, and human experiences of a dark historical period, portrayed with particular sensitivity in the novel Brenga.
The event was further enriched by artistic performances that created a deeply emotional atmosphere.
- Student Dorart Kryeziu performed an instrumental version of the song “Baresha” on guitar,
- Djellza Perteshi recited the poem “Republika” by Bes Camaj,
- while Dren Braha read the letter from Marku to Tonini, a key fragment from the novel, which profoundly moved the audience.
As a continuation of this successful cultural and academic cooperation, readiness was expressed to establish a cooperation agreement between the Pan-Albanian Federation “Vatra” and the University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren, aiming to develop joint projects in various academic, cultural, and scientific fields.
The Faculty of Philology remains committed to creating such spaces for dialogue, where literature, historical memory, and the education of younger generations intersect in a meaningful and impactful way.
