
OPEN CALL FOR LECTURERS

The University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti,” in collaboration with DokuFest — the International Documentary and Short Film Festival, proudly announces the Fourth Edition of the International Summer School Prizren (ISSP), to be held from 30 to 8 August 2025. The ISSP 2025 extends an open invitation to distinguished international professors to join us in discussing and elaborating on key contemporary topics across diverse fields, including economics, agri-food, technology, law, education, and languages. Courses will be delivered in English and are designed for both national and international students, not only from the Balkans but from around the world.
The course modules provided by the International Summer School (ISSP) 2025 Edition:
- Faculty of Law – Gender Equality and Domestic Violence
- Faculty of Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence and Human-Machine Interaction
- Faculty of Philology – Digital Tools and Interactive Learning in the English Classroom
- Faculty of Education – Global Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks, and Pedagogical Transformation
- Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences – The Hidden Danger: Antibiotics and the Environment
- Faculty of Economics – Global Currencies & Geopolitics: The Power Behind the Pairs
Each of these courses has its own module with a brief description of the topics that will be covered during the 10 days of lessons and exercises. Each professor will be followed and accompanied by a local professor, covering the practical part of the program.
The University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren (uni-prizren.com) will work in partnership with DokuFest (International Documentary and Short Film Festival (www.dokufest.com) to ensure a vibrant and enriching experience.

MENTORS
Maria Alvanou
Dr. Maria Alvanou is a Criminologist (International Research Doctorate in Criminology, University of Trento), living in Greece. She is actively engaged in the study of security issues, focusing on gender. Her doctoral thesis regarded women’s participation in suicide attacks, and her later scholar work has been researching the role of women and perceptions about them in various political movements. Dr. Alvanou’s publications are often cited by scholars, and she regularly contributes with her analysis as an expert invited by media. She carried out postdoctoral studies at the Panteion University, supported by the Greek State Foundation Scholarship (IKY).

Daniel Xerri
Daniel Xerri is an Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Malta, and the Chairperson of the ELT Council. He has published widely on different areas of English language education. He has co-edited nine books and authored over 200 publications. His work has appeared in research anthologies, scholarly journals, magazines and newspapers. His publications have generated a substantial number of citations. He has delivered plenary talks and keynotes in 20 countries and his research has been awarded international prizes. His main research interests are teacher research and professional learning. Ali Aydin
Prof. Dr. Ali Aydin is currently working at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa. Dr. Aydin’s research is as diverse as it is impactful. He focuses on the prevalence, incidence, geographical distribution, and genetic relationships with molecular characterization of several pathogens. He has carried out important studies on antibiotic and multidrug resistance mechanisms in many microorganisms. He also conducts research on the distribution of microbiota and pathogenic microorganisms in traditional foods of various countries, showcasing his wide-ranging expertise. Prof. Dr. Ali Aydin’s (H index: 36) involvement in 80 international and national research projects, 120 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals.

Mark Laurence Zammit is a seasoned governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) professional with over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector. Based in Malta, he has served most recently for the past 8 years as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at RCI Insurance Ltd., part of the global Renault Group. Mark has extensive expertise in regulatory compliance, sustainability, and corporate governance, with a strong focus on EU financial regulation and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) integration.HIs experience in Banking has also given Mark the qualifications and knowledge on Financial Markets, Investment Services, and Fund Management. finance.

Ilir Jusufi
Ilir Jusufi is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH). His research focuses on Information Visualization and Visual Analytics, applied across domains such as life sciences, humanities, IoT, software engineering, and game data analysis. He specializes in analyzing large, multivariate datasets by combining human visual perception with computational techniques to uncover patterns in complex data. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Linnaeus University, Växjö, Sweden, with a dissertation titled Multivariate Networks: Visualization and Interaction Techniques. He later worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California.

Miranda Karjagdi Çolak
Miranda Karjagdi Çolak is a seasoned educator, teacher educator, and researcher, currently working at Bursa Technical University, School of Foreign Languages. She is dedicated to enhancing the quality of language learning through research, policy development, and capacity building. Her work is grounded in critical approaches to language, education,and identity, with a strong focus on fostering intercultural understanding, plurilingualism, and democratic competences. She has contributed to several international initiatives, including projects of the European Centre for Modern Languages on plurilingual and intercultural education, as well as Council of Europe collaborations on quality enhancement in language education.
