

University of Prizren, in cooperation with SHER, organizes workshop on the review of the Statute
The University “Ukshin Hoti” in Prizren, in cooperation with the SHER Programme, organized a workshop on 4–5 February 2026 focused on the review of the University Statute.
The workshop was opened with welcoming remarks by the Rector of the University, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, and the Thematic Coordinator of the SHER Programme, Mr. Nehat Dervishi, who emphasized the importance of the Statute as a key document for institutional functioning, university governance, and the strategic development of the University.
Participants in the workshop included members of the working group for the review of the Statute, comprising members of the Governing Council, including its Chair, Prof. Arif Murrja, Vice-Rectors, the University Secretary, Deans of academic units, members of the Senate, as well as University professors.
During the first day, participants were introduced to the analysis of the existing Statute prepared by the international expert of the SHER Programme, presented by Prof. Blerim Saqipi. The working methodology for reviewing and amending statutory articles was discussed, and through group work, challenges, opportunities, and areas for improvement were addressed, including general provisions and the main governing bodies of the University.
The second day of the workshop focused on the legal formulation of selected articles of the Statute, such as complaint mechanisms, the rights and responsibilities of students, the responsibilities of managerial structures, the Ethics Council, and the division of responsibilities among governing bodies. These sessions were conducted by Prof. Bashkim Preteni, in cooperation with the SHER Programme team.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of joint academic and professional contributions to improving the Statute was emphasized, and the next steps toward finalizing the document were agreed upon, in line with legal standards and best European practices in higher education.
